This brings me back memories too, After my dad picks me up from school (St. Paul’s in Malate) We used to stop by this lttle barbecue shack by Taft and Veto cruz Extention and buy those pork barbecue and they were big and sweet. We used to buy a lot of them to bring home. How I missed those days in the Philippines, life is hard, simple but more fun than here in U.S., too much stress. Thanks for that piece of blog, it just took me back.

I was craving for pork bbq so I thought I’d google the recipe and found this website! Thanks for the recipe. Can’t wait to try it! I too went to St. Paul’s Manila and remember that little bbq shack that G. Agor was referring to. My dad and I used to go over there during the weekendsas well. You can smell the bbq a mile away and I remember being excited about going there because it was always so good. I think they had lechon too! It does bring me back to those days – such simple pleasures back then! Thanks for the reminder.

I’m just wondering if this is Eleanor Datu who went to La Concordia College before going to St. Paul’s. If it is, reply to this posting. I’m not sure if you remember me from high school but your name caught my attention; it’s not a common last name so I took a chance.

    G. Agor, I used to attend La Salle University Taft. I remember that shack that sold the barbecue. That must be the best barbecue in the world!

abdullah, this is a recipe blog. please save your religious beliefs for a different blog. Also, you might want to update your medical readings on bacteria in cooked foods. Pathogenic bacteria is killed with the right cooking temperature. Use Google to do the research…you’ll find good results. As for the sin to eat pork….hmmm…… kung nilalang ng Diyos ang baboy, at kasalanan itong kainin, di kaya dapat namatay na lahat ng tao na kumain ng baboy?

Moderation is the key….pork is fatty, so huwag abusuhin, para hindi magbara ang mga arteries ng puso.

Thanks to Noemi for posting the marinade. I was looking for an old fashioned pinoy bbq marinade for the Memorial Day weekend party. I tried it with a small batch….yummy!

Btw, Abdullah.. God says that it’s not what goes in a man that makes him unclean, but what goes out. And He wasn’t talking about your poo poo.

I think mas masarap kung lalagyan ng good old banana ketchup, ano sa tingin n’yo? Kasi kami sa Guagua Pampanga gano’n ang ginagawa namin. Baka iyon ang secret recipe ng barbecue shack sa Taft. Subok lang kayo sa mga gustong sumubok. Salamat sa recipe.

Talking of BBQ, I went to the Asian store today and found a new Visayan Porduct line in Texas. It is called Sugbu. The store owner said it is a new product and is now distributed nationwide. Check it out.

I grilled the BBQ dinner. It was soooo good. Lami kaayo…this reminds me of home. Puso (hanging rice) na lang ang kulang. I will try the Pork Steak and Bistek next week.
