Whenever you are on your way down to Manila from Baguio, you will definitely pass by suman vendors in Urdaneta, Pangasinan. Their suman is called Tupig, made from sugar, coconut and malagkit (gelatinous rice) then wrapped in banana leaves. The banana wrapped suman is cooked over a charcoal grill. A set of tupig, with 4 pieces to a bundle cost 100 pesos.

The smoked flavor adds to the twist of this sweetish suman. Definitely a great pasalubong to bring to Manila.

I can’t wait until I can have this again. soon….sooon…..I can’t wait!
I just love tupid. I miss eating it
TUPIK ndi tupig!! and tupid!!
Pls. publish all the native recipes on each town or province that you know especially the kakanins like the Tupig, different Sumans from the provinces atbp.
Nakakamiss talaga yung ating kakanin. I’m from Pangasinan and altho we can find some native cakes here in California, there’s nothing compared to what we have in Pang. like Tupig, Binanlay and Calasioao puto
Maraming Salamat po.
