After all that buzz marketing in food blogs and corporate offices, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts opens today in Manila. Today, November 30 is the launching day for Krispy Kreme at the City Center, Global City, Taguig. What a crowd. The night before there was already a group that camped out. By the time I arrived, it was 6:30 AM. I think I was the 200th customer in line . The Events Organizer did a great job with entertaining the tired and hungry crowd. There was a bayanihan number and a music group that uses garbage bins as instruments. By 7:30 AM, they announced the winners of the raffle prizes for 1 month, 3 month and half year supply of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Finally at around 10:00 AM after queuing since 6:30 AM, I enter the Krispy Kreme doughnut store.

Everyone gets a free Original Glazed Krispy Kreme while they await their turn to order.

Since I already had a preview of the World Famous Melt in your mouth Original Glazed Krispy Kreme, Doughnuts I didn’t order that anymore. Instead, I ordered 2 dozen assorted Krispy Kreme doughnuts priced at 335 pesos a dozen. I mean after all that trouble of falling in line, I am not about to queue again in the coming weeks. I might as well get all the flavors so my family can get a taste of all the flavors. They will get so sick that they won’t bother me for any more doughnuts.
Too bad I didn’t get to win the raffle. After all that hassle and waking up early to be the first 500 customers, I ended up with:
1. two free Original Glazed doughnuts

My husband ate one piece at home while I ate the other one while in the queue
2. A free t-shirt

3. and a retro cap

A new product is always exciting. Let’s see how Krispy Kreme can sustain this excitement.
For now, my daughters are giddy with all these flavors.

Funny, I’d trade ALL the KK’s I’ve ever eaten here in Canada just for one bite of real Filipino ensaymada (this particular one I remember came from a famous local bakery known for ensaymada - I don’t remember the name of the store because I was only about 8 years old at the time.)
