buko for sale
A day before New Year’s Eve, I buy Buko so that I can start grating the young coconut meat and freezing it. Another reason is that usually, buko fetches a higher price on New Year’s Eve. Right now, it costs only 25 pesos each. Tomorrow (December 31), the price could reach 30 pesos or more.

Armed with a water jug for the coconut water and plastic bag to hold the buko husks, we head off to the neighborhood buko vendor. It’s more convenient if the vendor cuts the buko already and pour the coconut water into the jug.
