We found a new fine-dining place, without the swanky prices, at In-Yō or inyo, located at Esteban Abada St. in Loyola Heights, near the busy Katipunan strip. We used to pass by the place quite often while taking the kids to their dorm in the area but we never had the chance to try the place out until recently. In-Yō offers “fusion cuisine“, an overused and abused phrase, but in the case of In-Yō , its an apt description. Western and eastern cuisine is blended in new and delightful ways by chef Nino Laus and In-Yō (”yours”, in Tagalog) is a place one will surely keep coming back to. Noel used to work for Parallel 45 and Kai.

The place is a converted house and the decor is Balinese meets Filipino rustic, with a garden area and an enclosed, airconditioned section with a 2nd floor. You will be welcomed by amiable restaurant manager and part owner Cris Orocio.

Swiss Deli and Bistro

Monday May 7, 2007

swiss deliJayvee’s invitation last April 20 was a dinner meeting with Amor Maclang at Swiss Deli and Bistro along Pioneer and Sheridan Sts, Mandaluyong City. I imagined the place resembling those chic coffee shops that sold delicatessen. Fancy yet quaint. It wasn’t difficult to spot Swiss Deli and Bistro as it is easily accessible from EDSA or the Sheridan Street from Ortigas Center. The door design immediately gave a hint that behind it lay a treasure full of food delights. As my daughter Lauren and I entered the door, our first reaction was “how nice!”. It felt so homey even as I passed by the array of goodies at the Deli. The Deli offers a wide range of products mostly produced in their very own Swiss Deli Food Hams, Sausages and tender aged beef as well as seafood and vegetables.

Along with Lori , Anton , Felix Guggenheim, the general manager of Swiss Deli and Bistro treated us to wide range of their menu offerings. I like the idea that ” The Bistro intends to showcase these items and features simply prepared food all based on our range of products. The result is sumptuous home-cooking with a distinct European flair. ”

Sometimes, busy moms like me need to whip up a fancy dish on special occasions. The best thing about this place is that most of the ingredients of their dishes can be bought at their deli shop. It just proves that an excellent meal is possible in minutes without spending hours in food preparation and hard labor.

Felix offered us melt-in-your-mouth Belgian chocolates before we ate our appetizers.
