A lot of visitors head off to my food photo gallery just to drool over filipino food photos. It’s one reason I am showing the photo above because it is so drool-worthy. When I cook Sinigang na Bangus or Sinigang na Isda, I prefer to use “Kamias” as the souring agent though lemon, green sampaloc or green mango can be used to sour the soup as well. The bangus (milkfish) can be substituted with lapu-lapu, apahap, talakitok, and shrimps. Aside from kangkong, you can add mustasa (mustard leaves), sitaw and sigadillas.

How fitting to post traditional pinoy dishes on my food blog’s first year anniversary. Most of my visitors are filipinos living abroad (the balikbayan) or overseas filipino workers (OFW) who miss feasting on traditional Filipino food. Just a few frequent key words that are often searched are sinigang, barbecue, lechon, kakanin. It just shows how much our balikbayans or OFW miss our filipino food. Looking at the photos in my blog is enough to satisfy their cravings till their next trip back here. According to the International Culinary Tourism Association, 53 per cent of tourists worldwide rank eating traditional dishes as a very important consideration in their travel plans. Taking on this, Department of Tourism (DOT) launched its food tourism campaign, putting local dishes on the center stage.
Another thing I noticed too is that my SM Mall of Asia entry continues to receive so many hits . Eating. Singing. Malling. Three of the most favorite past-times of every modern Pinoy family. It is no wonder Knorr and SM Supermarkets bring these three together through its nationwide Knorr Sing-Sarap sa SM campaign.
Yesterday I witnessed the launch of the Knorr Sing-Sarap Campaign (upon the invitation of PR practioner, Andrea Trinidad Echavez) through a live cooking demonstration of Sinigang na Isda amidst the talented kids strumming on their rondalla. How festive. Running from August 1 – 31, Knorr Sing-Sarap sa SM aims to support the Department of Tourism’s food tourism campaign that puts Filipino all-time favorite foods as the main attraction in tourist destinations.

During the hot and humid days, I often look for refreshing juices to quench my thirst. I don’t like sour juice like the calamansi juice or too sweet juice like the mango juice. I end up not drinking any fruit juices at all as they make me even more thirsty than ever. Not until I got introduced to dalandan juice or what is also known as dalanghita juice by Juned . He gave me 3 bottles during my birthday celebration. The dalanghita juice is both acidic yet sweet. It is a combination of two contrasting flavors that can truly quench one’s thirst.
This tangy, and refreshingly tasty dalanghita juice is now my all-time favorite citrus juices. Fresh Dalanghita fruit have a bright and deep green skins, smells divine and possess a natural shine and quite firm to the touch.
Want to order dalanghita juice with the brand name “Pick Fresh”?

The taking in of nourishment is a central experience of all living beings. For humans, apart from the obvious biological need to survive, food meets many psychological, emotional and even spiritual needs. When distressed, we often turn to comfort food. Food has brings out many emotional responses from us, from delight to disgust. For Christians, spiritual communion includes rituals for symbolically partaking of the body and blood of Christ.
How then do we communicate the nuances of this universal, yet very personal, occurrence to others ? This was the objective of the recent First Blogger Food Writing Class organized by writer and new media practitioner Jayvee Fernandez.

The one thing I like about Korean Grill cooking is that the family takes dinner in leisure. Sometimes the kids just want to eat and run. Not this time. Not when one has to cook the food by yourself.
