mrs. fields cookie cafeI first encounted Mrs. Fields Cookies because my sister, Lorna worked there shortly after her arrival in San Francisco. Then when Mrs. Fields arrived in the Philippines, I often bought the moist Chocolate Chip cookies from a small stall inside a mall. So when Jayvee announced the Second Coming and Formal Launch of Mrs. Fields, I was excited to learn that the concept is now a coffee shop. This year, Mrs. Fields reinvented herself to attract the coffee shop crowd into their new branches. Young couple Gerwyn and Sheryl See are the new master franchise owners of Mrs. Fields, having bought the old Mrs. Fields from the Arrietas. The first branch opened at the Trinoma Mall in Quezon City. The formal launch of the second branch was held yesterday at the corner of Manila Pavilion (the Old Starbucks) along UN Avenue, Manila. This branch isn’t open to the public until September 1. So watch out for it.

Before the program started, I eagerly observed the baking going on at the kitchen.

I took time to talk to Gerwyn and Sheryl to get the pulse of their enthusiasm in this business.

jayveebloggersThe launch was attended by around 60 bloggers . Before the program proper, I drooled over the appetizing cookies, the yummy gelato, muffins and the product displays. Mrs. Fields display a diverse and attractive array of cookies compared to the old boring Mrs. Fields cookies’ stand. I was really excited to taste test these yummy decadent goodies. But first…

Jayvee formally launched Blog and Soul, a movement that aims to transform blogging into a reputable arm of Philippine media. The movement comes with a tag line “If you blog it, they will come”….

So what is new about the Second Coming of Mrs. Fields?

What is a launch without product samples? I tell you, just a little cut of these cookies or fudge brownies is going to satisfy your sugar cravings. I asked Gerwyn if there was a sugar-free version. He requested Mrs. Fields in the USA for such a version but it might not be available until next year. The cookies and brownies are still chewy and moist which sets them apart from most desserts served at coffee shops. One is easily satiated with just one cookie. I probably ate the equivalent of 2 cookies after getting a bite of each Mrs. Fields cookie or brownie. My only suggestion is that Mrs. Fields should offer low-fat, low-calorie, sugar-free treats for diabetics like me.

This Cookie Cup is a chocolate chip cookie shaped into a cup then topped with cream and M & M chocolate and just tastes so divine.

Lauren takes a piece of Peanut Butter Dream Bar. This is just too sweet that you can actually feel a shiver ran down your spine.

And what is Mrs. Fields without my sweetheart ? hehe
