Candy Corner

Despite the name, it is more than just a corner but a sweet empire.

jelly beansSelling candies was not the original plan of Ricky and Bubu Andres. They were importing and retailing toys back in the early 90’s and they were encountering problems on how to reach the minimum weight requirement of an air freight service and how to fill the odd-sized empty spaces in the containers. Candies as the solution to this dilemma may not seem obvious to everyone, but for Ricky and Bubu, it was.

“Everyone loves candies. As children, we were naturally gravitated towards the sari-sari stores and supermarkets to get hold of our favorite candies. And of course, everyone will always possess the heart of a child so candies never go out of style. Candy represents happiness, sharing and other universally shared emotions,” explains Ricky Andres, President of Candy Corner.

candy cornerWhat began as a four square meter stall in Glorietta 2, 11 years ago has evolved into a confectionary kingdom with 79 outlets nationwide, 51 of which are company owned. Candy Corner revolutionized the candy retailing industry by replacing the traditional packaged and novelty confectionery with the pick and mix concept.

Found in prime locations of leading malls nationwide, Candy Corner continues to delight the kids and the kids at heart with over three hundred brands of confectionaries. The latest member of the Candy Corner family is Jelly Belly – the world’s number one gourmet jellybean.

Candy Corner has also expanded its market reach by opening several new concepts to meet the ever-changing demands of the marketplace. “We take candies seriously, that’s our mantra. Candies for us are not just sweets but an art and a memory that clings for a lifetime,” explains Ricky. Thus, Candy Corner gave birth to Buzzy Bees Café, Nuts About Candy, Snak Shack, Good to Go and Cacao to satisfy every sweet craving of Filipinos.
