heaven in a box

Heaven in a Box is a superb bake shop that really ought to have their own mall franchise. There are two things that make their goodies worth five stars in my book: the quality of their food and the value for your money. Most bake shops charge you an arm, a leg, and a pound of flesh for a small cookie that’s barely satisfying. But not only does Heaven in a Box charge very reasonable prices for their ensaymada, brownies, and cookies. One bite is enough to tell you that they are made out of high-quality ingredients you wouldn’t get from other pastries of the same price.

ensaymada
Ensaymada with Ham and Cheese / Double Cheese Ensaymada
35 pesos a piece or 210 pesos for 6 pieces
I mentioned before that the Heaven in a Box ensaymada is good enough to rival the Diamond Hotel’s monster-sized ube and cheese ensaymada. Despite being only fist-sized, the Heaven in a Box ensaymada is rich with flavor and very filling. What makes it such a mouthwatering delight is that it contains just the right about of cheese and sugar so you don’t get sick of too much salt or too much sugar when you’re halfway through.

Not only do they serve baked goodies fresh from the oven; they also carry other kinds of food for those who live on their own and miss mom’s home-cooked meals. Their creamy baked macaroni goes for 100 pesos per serving or 1,000 pesos for ten to fifteen people.

Comfy Mix (by heaven in a box) is a brain child of Marian and Dan. They wanted a place where people can get good, inexpensive comfort food just like their mom used to make.
