Like anyone else who appreciates the good life and good food, I was really happy to be able to experience the delectable flavors of summer with Appetite Magazine and Greenbelt’s grand launch of The Tasting Room.

I heard that The Tasting Room has a reputation for offering some of the dishes that can only be found in the world’s hottest culinary hubs, and today they gave us a chance to enjoy full course meals and more dishes at their favorite restaurants at only a fraction of their regular price. But not only did we get to try out restaurant best sellers and sampler platters – there was a specially designed menu that was unveiled in today’s grand launch.

We gathered together with the chefs by the lush lagoon in Greenbelt to sample the cleverly concocted dishes at the cocktail area. Our mouths were watering in eager anticipation because the dishes looked so irresistable. All of these delightful dishes will be served from May 1 to 31, 2008.

The atmosphere was refreshing and relaxing – perfect for enjoying excellent food and musical performances.

So you might ask, which food items did I enjoy? All of the dishes were absolutely delicious but some stood out among the rest for me. Here are just some of my favorites:

oysters
Seared Ahi Tuna and Crispy Oysters from Mr. Rockefeller

This was prepared with seared Ahi Tuna with sesame seeds and crispy oyster tempura served with wasabi cream and soy sauce reduction.

paella
Paella from Mezze

olives
Stuffed Olives with Cheese from Nuvo

If you love olives, you will enjoy snacking on this. Crispy on the outside, the cheese mixed with the olives is truly an appetizer.

chatka
Chatka made with crabmeat and mayonnaise from Gaudi

max brenner
Dessert with banana , ice cream and chocolate from Max Brenner

This dessert is a must after tasting all the dishes from the 15 restaurants.

There are a lot more. Just browse through these photos I took during the Launch of The Tasting Room
