Cafe Xocolat is one of my favorite coffee shops ever. It’s cozy, comfortable, and well-designed but minus the pretentious facade most coffee shops have these days in an attempt to compete with the McDonald’s of the coffee shop world. More important than the homey atmosphere it provides is the food they serve, of course, and Cafe Xocolat’s offerings are no less than sublime.

My favorite among their mouthwatering offerings is their Taza de Chocolat, a rich, thick dark chocolate that you drink with a spoon and that’s best enjoyed with their equally delicious brownies. I know that mixing a chocolate drink with a chocolate pastry sounds a little redundant but the chocolate drink has a slightly bitter taste, like coffee, which makes it a great neutralizer for desserts.

You can find Cafe Xocolat at Eastwood, Katipunan Avenue, and Serendra (Fort Bonifacio).
