Half an ounce a meat a day; just one big bite– that’s the amount of red meat it takes to apparently double your chances of contracting cancer. Filipinos already know that fish is healthy but kids won’t normally eat fish because of the fishy taste. No matter how they create and re-create fish dishes, kids still won’t eat them. Therefore it is the responsibility of mothers to be creative to let their kids enjoy fish by offering alternative fish products that are palatable for kids.

This you have to try because I tested it on my own kids. The Everyday Fish Processed Products from Fisher Farms.

Everyday Fish Products

The Everyday Fish Ham, bacon, hotdog, luncheon and sausage are made from 100% fish meat and specially formulated that one can’t even discern the fishy taste. Even meat lovers like my children can’t tell it’s fish products.

Although fish is generally healthy, it is still important to know how the fish you’re serving to your family was processed to ensure their health and safety, especially because of the numerous fish contaminants such as mercury.

Fisher Farms, the leading aquaculture processor in the Philippines, employs stringent food safety measures at par with those in Japan and Australia to guarantee the full traceability of their products. This means that Fisher Farms makes sure that their consumers are aware of the process their fish go through keeping the freshness till it reaches the supermarket and onto their plates.

I had the opportunity to tour the fish farm in Pangasinan and even the Fisher Farms plant in Bulacan and I must say that I am impressed with the world class facilities and technology employed. Henry Uy, President of Fisher Farms Inc says “Fish is naturally good but we make it even better. That’s because we want Filipinos to eat more fish and reduce health problems”. His own son, Harvey is very allergic to meat hotdogs often breaking out in red spots. When Henry introduced “Everyday Fish Hotdog” to Harvey, the son’s allergic reaction did not manifest.

For those moms who can’t even let their kids eat fish, the Everyday Fish Products is a creative way to introduce fish to their diets.

Everyday Fish Products will be introduced to supermarkets by the first week of June 2008. It will be priced 10 to 20% higher than meat products. But of course, health is wealth. You are also assured the meat is 100% fish meat.

With growing concerns on health, Fisher Farms knows that the future is fish and it may not be enough to just know what to eat, but more importantly to know where it comes from– because our life just might depend on it.
