miele guide

I am pleased to announce that Asia is to get its first truly independent restaurant guide with the inaugural Miele Guide, the 2008/2009 edition, slotted for release at the end of October 2008.

The Miele Guide will rank Asia’s top 20 best restaurants annually. It will also feature in-depth profiles of these top 20 restaurants plus a select list of the other top restaurants in the region, categorized by
country, city and cuisine.

The information in the guide will be compiled through several rounds of judging, rigorously capturing the opinions of Asia’s most influential and respected restaurant critics, food and wine professionals as well as the general dining public.

This is a real opportunity to place a spotlight on the culinary talent in the Philippines. In my opinion, many chefs and restaurant establishments have gone unacknowledged for much too long. Here is an
opportunity to change that.

The Miele Guide, Asia’s first independent restaurant guide, is now accepting votes from the dining public. Comprised of four rounds of judging, the first phase begins with a shortlist gathered by 84 of the region’s top restaurant journalists. The second and third rounds, conducted simultaneously via online polls, give the public the opportunity to vote for their favorite restaurants, with the option of nominating restaurants that may not be in the list.

The public can vote online from 15 May 2008 to end of July 2008 at the
website www.mieleguide.com

Voters have the chance to win an all-expense paid dinner for two at the top-ranked restaurants in Singapore, Hong Kong or Tokyo, plus a two-night stay in one of Asia’s luxurious hotels. The results of the voting will be announced in October 2008 when The Miele Guide is launched.

The thing is one can only vote if you are a VISA cardholder. Oh well, I can’t vote because I use a Mastercard.
