Last week, my mom’s cousin from the US came to the Philippines and saw her for the first time in over ten years. Since Filipinos love to mark family occasions with food, we all went out for dinner at Kamayan Restaurant where we can stuff ourselves silly with a rich buffet of Filipino, European, and Japanese food at only Php 595 per person.

Our Filipino-American relatives immediately made a beeline for the Kamayan section (Filipino food) of the buffet and didn’t touch anything else. They say that they don’t get this much seafood in Arizona and that there aren’t any Filipino buffets in the United States at all. I really don’t think they need to go to restaurants to enjoy Filipino cuisine though, as they’re from Pampanga - and you know how people from Pampanga make the best Filipino food.

The sushi bar at Kamayan was absolutely heavenly. Imagine a whole line of different kinds of sushi and maki that you can eat until you’re absolutely stuffed!

While we were eating, we were serendaded with Filipino songs and popular songs by blind musicians.

My mom, my mom’s cousins, and my aunt look very satisfied after that very filling meal we all just had.
