BTIC is no longer the only place in town where you can get frozen yoghurt. For those of you who haven’t heard of it yet, The White Hat is a quaint store in SM Mall of Asia that serves the finest scoop of frozen yoghurt, molded to resemble a little white hat (hence the name “The White Hat”). And this is not just any type of yoghurt in – The White Hat uses nothing less than authentic Italian yoghurt. Italy is a country known more for its carb-heavy cuisine than its desserts but apparently, they also make the best dairy products – and this includes yoghurt.

White Hat Italian frozen yoghurt only comes in one natural flavor, but the fun part is in choosing among the 21 toppings on the menu. I like how the toppings tries to accommodate everyone’s tastes and diets. For the diabetic and the weight-conscious, there’s a wide variety of fruits like kiwi, mango, mandarin oranges, and pineapples at hand. The sophisticated foodista will love granola mixed with cranberries. And for the kids or kids at heart, there are fun cookie bits, chocolate chips, chocolate balls, marshmallows, and classic cereals.

As for the yoghurt itself, it’s very velvety and creamy with a slightly sour aftertaste – unlike the frozen yoghurt at BTIC, which is a little too sweet and resembles ice cream more than yoghurt. If you’ve got a serious sweet tooth and might find the yoghurt too sour for your liking, I suggest that you pair it with chocolate or marshmallows. But if you’re trying to stay healthy (the Italian frozen yoghurt is 98% fat free), it’s tasty enough to eat on its own.

White Hat frozen yoghurt comes in two sizes – regular at Php 85 and large at Php 115. One topping costs Php 20 but if you MUST have more than one, you can get two toppings for Php 35 or three toppings for Php 45. White Hat Frozen Yoghurt is located at Level 2, Entertainment Mall, SM Mall of Asia.
