Newly opened Trinoma Branch has Valet parking services

It might surprise a lot of people to know that there is a consumer coffee tradition that’s older than Starbucks, and it originated right here in Asia. The Ueshima Coffee Co. (UCC) began during the eighth year of the Showa era in 1933. Japan has been importing coffee for three hundred years, but it only became a popular consumer item when Tadao Ueshima established UCC.

To make sure that the quality of every cup of coffee at UCC is consistent, UCC operates plantations in Jamaica, Hawaii, and Indonesia. Skilled architectural engineers are employed in the plants to cultivate and grow nothing less than the best coffee plants.

UCC Blended Coffee is 129 pesos and Japanese Cheesecake at 185 pesos

UCC also takes the extra step to make sure that your cup of coffee is brewed the right way. Coffee is 98.6% water, and the coffee’s quality highly depends on the quality of the water used. Hard water or water that contains a lot of minerals should not be used as they fail to absorb the right amount of particles. You can tell that UCC uses only filtered or softened water because of the rich taste of the coffee in every sip.

From left to right: Japanese Seafood Spaghetti Soup (395 pesos); Sumiyaki Eel & Mushroom (429 pesos), Japanese Seafood Salad (389 pesos)

Besides coffee, UCC also serves very filling meals to go with your drink. I never realized this until I sampled a few of their Japanese fusion dishes. I’ve always associated UCC with excellent coffee. I enjoyed the slightly spicy Japanese Seafood spaghetti soup. It’s a meal in itself!

Mango Kiwi Shake at 169 pesos

And for those who, for some reason, are not too fond of coffee, UCC has non-caffeinated drinks on the menu. The bright colors of their shakes is so artsy that you just want to stare at it.

Espresso at 105 pesos

@Prudence- Ah yes, I want that coffee. I will definitely go UCC again.

@brian- I enjoyed it immensely except the part where my Nikon D40 broke down. Hence, the bad photos. I am waiting for Nina to post her macro shots so I can add a few here.

    Hi Noemi!

While I appreciate their Sumiyaki coffee, I guess I’m still a UCC Blended loyalist. ;-). I love the food, too!
