My dad wanted to have his birthday dinner at Serendra, where my grandparents were staying at their condo, and we ended up eating at Polu Kai Grill (across Abe and right next to Marta’s Cakes). I liked the place immediately for two reasons: 1) it was really refreshing to be in an environment that evoked memories of the beach during late August and 2) Polu Kai is probably the least pretentious restaurant in the area. Imagine a Hawaiian-themed Dencio’s – that’s pretty much what Polu Kai Grill feels like.
