Strolling down the baker sale lane in the Powerplant Concourse is always a treat. After three stalls, I am already sugar high. Armed with my iphone camera, I ventured into this sweet food trip.

Yummy Apple Crumble Pie at 790 pesos a 9 inch plate at Secret Passion. The cinnamon and sweet taste is just right. I hate apple pie that is too sweet.

Empire Macarons attracted me because of the candy colors. Priced at 30 pesos a piece or 350 pesos a dozen, I thought it was too expensive. Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside with a sweet or tangy filling, it didn’t appeal to me much. I thought it was full of air. Empire Macarons can be ordered via georgia@grochacatering.com

When I spotted San Lo’s Pineapple Upside-down cake, I just had to smile. Mom used to bake this and became a hit at her bake shop. It’s priced at 690 pesos a cake. I didn’t get to taste it though since they didn’t sell by the slice. San Lo’s Famous Empanadas and Tortas can be found at the Petron Station of Dasmarinas Village, Makati City.

Sweet Surrender’s Brazos de Mercedes is the winner among the goodies I tasted in the Baker’s dozen. Priced at 325 pesos for 4 x 8 pan.

This rum cake cost 320 pesos a box. Tasting this rum cake inspired me to bake this for the Christmas season. I also love their Dulong in Olive Oil and Garlic dip.
I still have to venture to the other stalls but there is always another time. I just took a glance at Gayuma, whose treats have quirky names such as a caramel chocolate cake called Beats Sex Anytime. Chocolate lovers will get their fix from Chocolate Confection’s pure Belgian Chocolates and Patisserie Caroline’s Tunnel of Fudge chocolate cake.
Next time around, I hope to bring my camera not just a camera phone.
Starting weekends of September until December, the Powerplant Mall’s Concourse level transforms into an avenue of mouthwatering home-baked desserts and pastries for the Baker’s Dozen.

if those macaroons taste anything close to laduree, it’s a steal for 30php.
are the green ones pistachio? they’re the most delightful.
