The Pear Tree Restaurant in the historic Bevier, Missouri is known throughout the state for serving the best steaks ever. My brother took me there for dinner even though it was half an hour away from where he lives. I guess the steak there must be that good, but he seems to have forgotten that I no longer eat meat.

The restaurant is housed in an old brick building that used to be a bank. Apparently, Bevier used to be an old coal mining town that eventually became one of the most prosperous in the midwest.

For appetizers, we had Onion Rings for $8.00. They are the best onion rings I have ever tasted - crispy and just the right amount of saltiness.

Their meal included a bowl of fresh garden greens with hot garlic croutons; Feta Cheese, Nippy Blue Cheese, Madam French, or House dressing; french fries, breadbasket, and a drink.

My order came with complimentary salad as well.

Although the Pear Restaurant is known for their steaks, I decided to have batter-dipped prawns ($24.00) instead.

My brother and me.

Since it was established in 1986, The Pear Tree has won so many awards, including Best of Rural Missouri and the 2005 Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Steak.
