Every weekend, my husband and I check our condo unit at
Two Serendra and most of all the latest finds at Market! Market! and other ritzy restaurants in Serendra. I am in the lookout for
Noche Buena ideas for those who don’t have the time to cook during the holidays.
One of my delightful finds is the Gingerbread House From Marta’s Cakes.

The quaint little houses added such a festive touch to their window display. Curious, I wanted to know if they actually sell Gingerbread Houses.

Fruitcake is pretty much a holiday staple in our family, much like Chinese ham. After going to a doctor’s appointment at St. Luke’s Medical Center this morning, my mom treated me out to coffee and a snack at DeliFrance. That’s where I discovered their yummy yummy fruitcake.

Most commercial fruitcakes taste too spicy and feel too dry in my mouth, and I had my doubts about the DeliFrance fruitcake. For something that was half the size of your average fruitcake, it sure cost quite a bit of money. Tasting it, however, made me change my mind. DeliFrance fruitcake has to be the softest, moistest fruitcake I have ever had. It took me by surprise because I didn’t know that fruitcake could feel like a really soft cookie in my mouth. This explains why the fruitcake was baked in such small pans. Apparently, if you try to make larger fruitcake moist by adding more butter, the whole thing will crumble and fall apart.

Mocha Crunch Fruitcake and Premium English Fruitcake costs 250 pesos (Solo Size), 775 pesos (Deluxe) and Grand at 1750 pesos which has to be made to order. A slice is 60 pesos though.

I have a soft spot for small businesses that offer homebaked goodies. My childhood years was spent helping out my mom at our
Sally’s Home Bake Shop. The Christmas season was also the busiest and most profitable month for us. Seriously, we could not even sit down in our living room and instead of partying, I was busy wrapping cakes and making pretty bows. So much cakes around us. As I strolled along
Powerplant Mall’s Baker’s Dozen at the Concourse level , I felt like I was transported back to my childhood days.
If you haven’t been there, the Bakers’ Dozen is an avenue of mouthwatering home-baked desserts and pastries, open weekends till December.
I think the bakers’ fair is a good venue to buy homemade goodies for friends or relatives or even for your noche buena or holiday dinners. Here are a few that I visited and sampled.
1. Bohemia Cakes and Pastries- Chocolate Lava Cake or Biscotti

That cake would cost around 10,000 pesos but it depends on the customer’s choice

Biscotti- a mix of white Chocolate Almond and Chocolate Walnut Biscotti – large box is 550 pesos for 40 pieces while medium box is 300pesos for 20 piecies
They have more baked goodies like the Chocolate Lava Cake, Fudgey Walnut Brownies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cinnamon Sugar Cookies, Double Chocolate Chip Cupcakes, Spinach Artichoke dip.

Sometimes, it just needs a little push to be aware of organizations out there who help others in need.
Sometimes it just needs awareness. Remember the reasons for starting my advocacy blog? I wanted to promote my advocacy to as many families out there through my blog.
“Sometimes all one needs is a start,” says Paolo del Rosario, Director for Marketing “If you’re one of the many who have continuously pledged, year in and year out to get involved or want to help but don’t know what organizations are out there, The 12 Cups with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf: Give in to Giving Promo can serve as your springboard.”

Partnering with 12 organizations that cater to different advocacies – Kababaihan Gabay sa Bayan (KAGABAY), Caritas Manila-Restorative Justice, The Philippine Animal and Welfare Society (PAWS), Bahay Tuluyan, Haribon, Cartwheel Foundation, Kythe, Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP), Philippine Cerebral Palsy Inc., Philippine Band of Mercy (PBM), Resources for the Blind, and Philippine Business for Social Congress (PBSP) – The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s wide selection gives its customers a chance to support the cause they are most passionate about.
