About
ShareHello, I am Noemi Lardizabal-Dado, blogger, food technologist and baker. I learned how to bake in my mom’s bakeshop, Sally’s Bake Shop which was based in Cebu. I grew up smelling the sweet aroma of freshly baked cakes and bread as early as 9 years old. College soon came. Mom thought it was best I took a course related to food. I graduated BS Food Technology at UP Diliman and did a lot of food research and technical studies before getting married in 1985. I stopped the food related work when I started to have children.
It’s funny how this blog and the origins of mom’s bake shop business came about. She drew inspiration after watching a movie. Mom noticed that a lot of moviegoers bought “kutsinta” or “puto”. It was such a hit that it soon expanded to other cakes, desserts, cookies and bread.
Here is where I feel so poignant. The most popular searches for this blog is “kakanin” which covers puto, kutsinta, bibingka, sapin-sapin. Little did I know that my Pinoy Food Blog would bear the same humble beginnings as my mom’s bake shop. My first entry was Kakanin. Isn’t that a sweet sign that my mom is always with me in spirit.
I started this blog so I could get in touch with the latest trends in the food business, restaurants, supplies and anything related to food, aside of course from blogging about food we eat.
This food category of the Shopping Finds, my personal blog and Photo Gallery became so huge that I thought it deserved a blog subdomain of its own. Here you will discover food that my family and I eat in restaurants, coffee shops, home, new media events and at party celebrations. Even from the street vendors.
My collection of hundreds of food photos since 2003 is located at my Filipino Family Photo gallery but there are no write-ups for each food item. Food discussions in this blog is not only limited to Filipino cuisine but to Western cooking as well. Expect some photo contributions from friends or other relatives as well.
I’ve added Baking and Cooking recipes but it has since moved to the Pinoy Food Recipes Blog.
My family also blogs here because they are all bloggers. Bloggers for this Pinoy Food Photoblog are my daughters, Lauren, Marielle and husband, Butch.
Disclosure:
If I am invited to cover an event, it is expressly shown in the entry. I don’t accept paid reviews or free dinner to write a review. However, I accept press releases for free and advertisements ONLY if I believe in the product or service or actually tried them out. Read more about my disclosure policy.
So Enjoy!
Cheers
