My new self-imposed diet does not have any room for pastries, especially fried pastries. But when I saw this delicious box of new Krispy Kreme donuts, I couldn’t resist taking a bite!
At first I thought this was a black forest donut, but it turned out to be even better. This is the new Double Chocolate Strawberry Cake, Krispy Kreme’s latest flavor released just in time for Father’s Day. It has a soft chocolate cake dough covered in glazed sugar and topped with chocolate icing and real strawberry slices.

The Singapore Food Festival is early this year. Remember last year’s Singapore Food Festival 2009? It was only 10 days. I was there during the opening ceremonies and I enjoyed every minute of it. This year’s food festival is of much longer duration from July 16 to July 25, 2010. Check the highlights here.
One of the major driving forces in Singapore tourism is their food. Singaporean cuisine ranks number 3 next to shopping and accommodations. Such Multi-Cultural Gastronomic Experience in Singapore. I got a sampling of mind-boggling array of dishes from various ethnic groups like the Indian, Arab, Peranakan, and Chinese. Just like last year, the Clarke Quay Food Street will be one of the focal points of this year’s festival, featuring Chinese cuisine from more than 30 different restaurants.
Kicking off the 10-day SFF 2010 on 16th July will be Clarke Quay Food Street at Read Bridge, where the entire length of the bridge will be transformed into a food haven offering sumptuous Chinese delicacies from various famous restaurants.
Other not-to-be-missed core events include the Singapore Chinese Dialect Tingkat Cruise, Singapore Chinese Street Snacks and Singapore Chinese Dialect Heritage Feast. Festival-goers can shop for fashionable knick-knacks and food at the Singapore River Market, along the Clarke Quay stretch of the Singapore River. A series of Cooking Classes will also be held where foodies can learn some of the best kept secrets to well-known Singapore Chinese Dialects food.

My family is pretty thrifty and we almost never eat out unless it’s a special occasion. My brother’s death anniversary falls under one of those special occasions so after a visit at the cemetery, we went to Megamall Atrium to meet my sister after work and have dinner together. Mom picked Gumbo: A Taste of New Orleans because the stuffed crab on the menu caught her eye. Apparently, my lola (whom I’ve never met – she died way before I was born) used to make stuffed crab omelette in the shell when my mom was a little girl, and it’s one of her favorite comfort foods.
Gumbo is one of those cheesy themed restaurants, but it works for me because I’ve always wanted to visit New Orleans. I think it must be all those Anne Rice novels I read in high school.
While waiting for your food to arrive, you can dress yourself up in Mardi Gras garb or play with the trivia cards at your table. It’s all about New Orleans though, and I couldn’t really answer anything.

Sometimes, I can be pretty boring when it comes to food. I like going to tried and tested places, and when I do, I order the same thing every time. For instance, when I crave for Japanese food, I only go to one of two places – either Teriyaki Boy or Kimono Ken. Unless I’m in the mood for a specific dish at Teriyaki Boy (like their fish and chips), I’d rather eat at Kimono Ken because they have better service, and because I prefer their version of my favorite Teriyaki Boy dishes. Price-wise, however, there isn’t much of a difference between the two.

Have you ever craved for food from Fish and Co, Italiannis, or any of your favorite restaurants but didn’t have time to leave your desk for lunch or dinner? I know what it’s like to be too busy to grab a meal, so when I heard about this exciting new restaurant delivery service called Quick Delivery, I couldn’t wait to try it out.
No, this isn’t an organized a directory of fast-food joints. Rather, Quick Delivery’s partner restaurants are the same establishments you’d normally see at a mall’s restaurant row. Tapella, Ristras, and Gloria Maris are just some of the restaurants you can access through Quick Delivery’s. You can even order dessert from Paulene Suisses Chocolats, Mrs. Field’s, and Banapple. My boyfriend couldn’t believe the number of awesome establishments on the menu, and he was especially thrilled to hear that the best burritos in the Philippines (from Ristra’s) can be ours with a simple phone call. “Happiness exists, and its name is Quick Delivery!” were his very words.
