Amazing Taste of Thailand food fest at Radisson Blu Cebu

If you happen to be in Cebu and love authentic Thai cuisine, then you might want to head off to the “Amazing Taste of Thailand,” a two-week Thai food festival from Sept. 30 to Oct. 9, 2011 at the Radisson Blu Cebu Feria.

I was there during the grand launch on September 30 together with fellow bloggers Nina, Eric and Melo, the diplomatic community from Thailand, and other dignitaries.

Not only did I get to feast on my favorite Thai dishes , Radisson Blu also brought in cultural dancers from Thailand for the authentic feel to the food fest.

Included in the array of Thai food delights are sour, sweet, salty and spicy to the complex and rich flavors, to the not so familiar but enticing aromas and essences of pomelo and papaya salad, stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts and roasted red chilies, green chicken curry with eggplants and string beans, hot and sour tamarind fish curry and sweet notes of tapioca dumplings in coconut milk and taro pudding for dessert and other Thai gastronomic marvels.

My favorites are the spicy seafood salad, Chicken Satay and Mussaman Curry beef.

You have to ask though if the spiciness of the dish. The green mango salad was just a bit spicy for me.

While enjoying my Thai food, this Thai dancer went around entertaining the diners. Yes, you will be entertained by daily performances of these Thai cultural dancers.

The partnership was made possible by Radisson Blu together with the Royal Embassy of Thailand and Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles. The latter flew in guest Chef’s from the Carlson Group’s sister-property Hotels to let diners experience amazing cuisine from Thailand itself.

Radisson Blu Hotel’s new Executive Chef Marco Amarone collaborated with Chefs Phimmuk Chutep of Park Plaza by Radisson Bangkok, Khun Somboon Temtananurak of Park Plaza by Radisson Sukhumvit and Chaitong Supat of Radisson Blu Plaza Resort Phuket for the creation of the dishes offered in this food fest.

The lunch and dinner buffet costs 1,100 net per person.
