Thank You Goldilocks

goldilocks-winner3

Thank you Goldilocks for believing that my You’re the 1, Goldilocks entry met your criteria as first prize winner. I never expected to win the first prize. Friends were telling me that my entry looked like a winner. I am not going to be coy and say that it is not worth winning…just that I never imagined it would make the cut for first prize.

It was not easy writing this entry. I wrote it on Luijoe’s July 13 birth anniversary with a lot of tears because I missed him so much yet thankful to God that even with my loss, his memory lives on through my work, the The Compassionate Friends grief support group. After the positive resolution of my grief, I found my new normal…me, a blogger. I began blogging because I wanted to reach out to others. Of course, I never imagined people would read my blog because of my devastating loss. Then again, I underestimated myself.

I wanted to let those who have similar losses like me , know that death may have taken their loved one but memories can never be taken away.

Thank you once again, Goldilocks (I thanked them personally and they said “Thank yourself”. Your story speaks for itself)

and thank you to Nuffnang for organizing this event!

You’re the 1, Goldilocks

Monday Jul 13, 2009

This is my blog entry to the You’re the 1, Goldilocks contest in cooperation with Nuffnang

“Mom, I want Winnie, The Pooh and Tigger”, Luijoe’s eyes twinkled as he glanced at the well-loved Pooh Characters on the Goldilocks birthday themed cake book called “Kiddie Cakes”. I hugged him and stroked his head “So it will be Pooh and Tigger” for your sixth birthday celebration. “Hurray!” Luijoe cheered and jumped up with glee around the Goldilocks Bake Shop. The enchanting tales of Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Christopher Robin fascinated my little boy to no end and he wanted to share his delight to his classmates.

The big day soon arrived. It is July 13, 1999, Luijoe’s 6th birthday. The birthday celebration was held at his classroom during recess. His classmates “oohed and aaahed” with wonder as I removed the cake from the box.

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you…happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday Luijoe, the little girls and boys sang to their heart’s content knowing that after the blowing of the candle, they will be able to taste the sweet goodness of the mocha chiffon cake.
