A Lovely Glass of Floral Bloom Tea at the Cantonese Soup Kitchen

Thursday Mar 11, 2010

floral bloom tea 1

I had a large, hearty Chinese dinner at the Cantonese Soup Kitchen last night but I think my beverage deserves its own entry (also, there was so much food – haven’t had time to process the photos yet :P ). Aside from herbal soups and other authentic Chinese fare, Cantonese Soup Kitchen has an extensive menu of home-brewed herbal teas. I’ve been cultivating an appreciation for teas, and I was pretty bummed to find out that none of the teas I wanted to try were available. Sensing my disappointment, the waiter suggested that I get their floral bloom tea instead. I’ve heard about floral bloom teas on the internet – it’s basically a small, unassuming teabag that blossoms into a flower as soon as you add hot water. I immediately said yes – I’ve been dying to try it out, and I never thought it’d be available in the Philippines.

African Sunrise Tea from The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on July 28

Friday Jul 18, 2008

One of the best teas I’ve ever had in my life was a concoction made by Master Tea Blender David de Candia at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf’s Tea Appreciation Workshop several months ago. I was taken aback by how flavorful it was and I thought it’d make the perfect present for my tea-drinking friends. Unfortunately, that delicious tea brew wasn’t for sale then, and we didn’t know when it would be out in the market until very recently.

Yesterday, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (CBTL) finally launched what I think is the best tea they’ve come up with – African Sunrise.

Lipton Milk Tea

Friday Apr 18, 2008

I just had a feeling good moment with my Lipton Milk Tea. Imagine this scenario….

You go to work and open your computer and you are greeted with dozens of emails all needing urgent responses. You dash from meeting to meeting, encountering heavy traffic in between. You sigh and say to yourself that the time wasted in transit could have been better put to use crafting and drafting the many presentations and reports your boss is expecting you to submit by the end of the day! Before you even jump to your next thought, you receive several text messages from people following up your deliverables. Just another typical day in your own private hell–work. And, you go through it every single day, five times a week, sometimes even more. You cry out, “I need a break!”

Break Time Magic

And Lipton couldn’t agree with you more. Yes, you need a break. With today’s fast-paced lifestyle and cutthroat competition, more and more people are getting the feeling of always being on-the-go and being constantly pressured to rush from one task to the next. They are required to perform more tasks and deliver these in lightning speed. Studies conducted worldwide have consistently shown that employees need to go on breaks. But, if that vacation leave is short of a miracle for the time being, a simple 15-minute break will do.

Tea Appreciation

Thursday Apr 17, 2008

Despite all the health benefits tea has over coffee, I’d much rather have a cup of coffee over a spot of tea any day. To me, coffee has this rich, thick flavor and aroma that no other (non-alcoholic) beverage can compete with; not to mention that the caffeine boost is the only thing that jump-starts my engine every morning. At the Tea Appreciation Seminar at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (CBTL), however, I got to try out some tea blends that I otherwise would never have tasted. I’ll still probably order a coffee instead of tea the next time I go to CBTL, but I did gain a better understanding of how quality tea should taste like.
